Emerald Green Meltwater
The Thur River flows in parallel with the valley of the Töss River, where many of my photo projects are based. In contrast to the Töss, which rises in the hills of the Zurich Oberland, the Thur has its origin in the mountains around the Alpstein massiv.
In spring, the emerald green meltwater from the Appenzell Alps characterises the river. After an open stretch in the wide valley floor near Nesslau, the Thur enters a sequence of narrows, small waterfalls and rapids.
