Natural Ice Tube
Siberian cold air dominated the weather in Switzerland at the end of February.
After a week with maximum temperatures always below freezing point I visited the »Wissengubel«, one of the well-known waterfalls in our area.

Beside the temperature there is a second parameter important for the building of the ice: the abundance of water. The streamflow is usually in winter quit low, but this February there was quiet a lot of water running down the creeks.
So I was wondering what the »Wissengubel« would look like!
The large volumes of water did not build up icicles on top of the wall.
The single big icicle is a giant ice tube with running water inside.
And on the ground the water disappeared in a huge ice pyramid.
