Limiting Factor: Nesting Site
Black-legged Kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla) are colonial nesters breeding on steep cliff ledges of islands.
But these structures seem to be a limiting factor in northern Norway. In different fishing villages on the Lofoten seagulls build their nests on smallest house-ledges. Or do the seagulls use these artificial structures because they have less other natural enemies here?
I took these photos outside the breeding season at the beginning of November in Nusfjord and Å.
